Alcohol should not be promoted in learning institutions.

Learning institutions should have strict laws and reguations that will help to shape young leaders of South Africa not to expose young people to alcohol.

In Cape Town I have seen Institutions which have drinking bars whereby they sell only alcohol. I have witness this because I was studying at one of the institutions which had one. The burn would open from Monday to Fridays and close at 10 during the cause of the week, Surturday it closed at 04:00 in the morning. This created chaos because they would fight when they are drunk and they would make noise when coming drunk. Rape cases were reported as a result of this, guys would take advantage of the girls when drunk. This stills alot of time that the student can invest in studying.

I wish South African leaning institutions can do something about issues like these because this is just destroying young people's lives. A learning institution should be a place to learn, grow, prosper and feed young people with knowledge and help them to be better leader.

  1. Indeed this is sad I also heard about some students actually striking due to the campus bar not being closed.

  2. This is very true. It is a shame and tertiary institutions should have stricter institutional laws on this kind of behaviour which promotes alcohol abuse.
